Winter Clothing Rental Service Terms & Conditions

North Star Adventures (NSA) provides high-quality winter clothing rentals to help guests stay
warm and comfortable during their Yellowknife experiences. By renting any item, you agree to
the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Rental Items

NSA provides the following winter clothing items for rent:
Canada Goose Parka

  • Insulated Snow Pants
  • SOREL Winter Boots
  • Winter Mitts (optional, available upon request)
  • Neck Warmer (optional, available upon request)
  • Winter (Fur) Hat (optional, available upon request)

Note: All items are delivered in a RED or BLACK carrying bag. Bags must be returned. Lost or damaged bags incur a replacement fee of $55.00 + GST.

2. Rental Rates

  • North Star guests on tour day: $75.00 + GST per rental day
  • North Star guests on non-tour day: $100.00 + GST per rental day
  • Non-guests: $150.00 + GST per rental day
  • Traditional Beaver Fur/Seal Skin Mitts: Add $25.00 + GST per rental day

A “rental day” is defined as 1:00 PM to 11:00 AM the following day.

Late Returns: A one time late fee of $75.00 + GST applies for any returns made more than 1.0 hour after the designated pickup time.

Pickup Confirmation: Guests and NSA staff will confirm the pickup location and time the day before the rental.

3. Flight Delays & Cancellations

If your flight is canceled or delayed, no refund will be issued. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover unforeseen travel disruptions.

4. Responsibility for Items

Guests are responsible for the proper care, return, and security of all rental items. Any missing or damaged items must be reported to North Star Adventures immediately.

5. Rental Period

The standard rental period is from the Release Date (1:00 PM) to the Return Date (11:00 AM the following day), unless otherwise arranged with NSA.

6. Security Deposit / Credit Card Hold

A valid credit card is required at the time of rental. NSA may place a temporary hold or request a security deposit to cover potential loss or damage. The hold will be released once all items are returned in satisfactory condition.

7. Care and Use of Clothing

Guests must use the rented clothing for its intended purpose only and avoid exposure to excessive dirt, smoke, too close to a wood stove or open flames. Items should not be washed, altered, or lent to others. Damage caused by improper use (such as burns, stains, or tears) will result in replacement charges.

8. Refunds and Cancellations

  • More than 5 days before rental: 85% refund.
  • 5 days or less before rental: No refund.
  • Operational issues: If NSA cannot provide the requested items, a full refund or suitable replacement will be offered.

9. Weather and Safety Disclaimer

NSA provides high-quality winter clothing suitable for subarctic weather conditions; however, NSA does not guarantee protection against extreme weather or improper layering. Guests are responsible for dressing appropriately and following guide or staff safety instructions.

10. Important Notes

  • If your exact size is unavailable, the next best size will be provided.
  • For small children, we provide high-quality winter jackets to ensure warmth and comfort.
  • All items must be returned clean and undamaged with the carrying bag.
  • Late returns will incur a fee of $75 + GST (60 + minutes after designated pickup).
  • Rental fees are non-refundable, including for flight delays or cancellations.
  • Travel insurance is recommended for unexpected disruptions.

11. Rescheduling Policy

  • Guests may request to reschedule their rental pickup up to 24 hours before the original release time. Rescheduling is subject to item availability.
  • Requests made less than 24 hours in advance, or failure to show up for pickup, are not eligible for a refund. Late fees may still apply if items are returned late.
  • NSA may occasionally reschedule pickup or delivery times due to weather or operational issues, with prompt notification to the guest.
  • Rental fees are non-refundable unless NSA cancels the rental entirely.

12. Lost, Damaged, or Missing Items

Guests are responsible for the proper care, security, and return of all rental items. Any missing or damaged items must be reported to North Star Adventures immediately. Guests assume sole financial liability for the full market replacement value of any equipment lost or damaged due to storage in unauthorized locations. If an item is lost, stolen, or returned damaged beyond normal wear and tear, the guest is responsible for the applicable replacement charges (see Section 4).


13. Liability

NSA is not responsible for injuries, losses, or damages arising from improper use of the rented clothing or accessories. Guests are responsible for ensuring items fit properly and are used safely.

14. Agreement

By proceeding with the rental, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by all of the above Terms & Conditions.
