We are from Yellowknife!

Welcome to Yellowknife! We grew up here, we know Yellowknife and we are happy to show you our wonderful city! On this 2.0hr sightseeing tour you will learn the history of Yellowknife. The tour starts off in the famous Oldtown district where Yellowknife originally started in the early 1930’s!

Hear personal stories from our Indigenous guides of growing up in Yellowknife. We will show where the restaurants and souvenir stores are in the Old town such as the world famous Bullock’s Bistro and the Wildcat Cafe and maybe stop from time to time to chat with a local person during the tour. In Oldtown we will visit the Indigenous village of N’Dilo (dee-lo) and learn about the Indigenous peoples and culture of this region.

From Oldtown we continue uptown, the downtown area of Yellowknife and show you the restaurants and souvenir stores, then onto the modern south side to see how Yellowknife has grown. We will stop in for a hot chocolate at the Tim Horton’s and have a casual question and answer coffee with our Indigenous guide.

Then we’re off the “Welcome to Yellowknife” sign near the airport where we will tell you why Yellowknife was named Yellowknife as well as tell you the traditional Indigenous name and meaning of what we call Yellowknife (“Beghulesdesche”). Then we show you the Legislative Assembly and the Prince of Wales Museum Heritage Centre.

All along the way we will take photographs of you to capture the memories of your Yellowknife visit. One of our favorite stops for photographs is Pilots Monument in Old Town. As lifelong residents of Yellowknife we can give you a uniquely personal insight into Yellowknife and its colorful past. We are from Yellowknife, we know Yellowknife! Join us for Yellowknife’s best Sightseeing City Tour experience!
