Travel from Yellowknife into the heart of the Dehcho region and experience the Northwest Territories through its land, communities and Indigenous culture.

Visit Fort Providence and look for wood bison along the way, then continue to Fort Simpson, known locally as Liidlii Kue. Travel along the mighty Mackenzie River from Jean Marie River to Fort Simpson, following a route once travelled by Sir Alexander Mackenzie in 1789.

In Fort Simpson, meet local Indigenous Elders and community members, hear stories and experience the warm hospitality of the Dehcho.

The journey continues into Nahanni National Park Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic mountains, canyons and spectacular wilderness.

Travel in June or July for the midnight sun and nearly 24 hours of daylight, or visit in August for the possibility of Northern Lights.
