Best Buffalo viewing experience!
On this 5hr tour, we will drive the highways of northern Canada and look for North America’s biggest wild wood buffalo (bison). Enjoy the beautiful and unique landscape of northern Canada’s boreal forest wilderness. Your Indigenous guide talk about the buffalo, introducing you to the life and history of the buffalo.
Enjoy the unique geology of the Canadian Shield. The Precambrian Shield is home to some of the oldest rock in the world, up to 4 billions years old! The NWT is also home to the Borealis Forest, keep an eye out for other wildlife such as rabbit, fox, lynx, wolf and maybe even moose! View these as you drive the highways of the Northwest Territories!
We will stop for lunch (included) at the scenic Great Slave Lake at North Arm Territorial Park to stretch our legs, get some fresh air and enjoy the view of the world’s 9th largest lake, and deepest in all of North America! In our Indigenous Dene language, we call the Great Slave Lake “Tu Nehthe”. Walk through the deep snow on the lake!
Soon we are back on the highway to go look for the buffalo. Please keep in mind, Mother Nature is boss, so sometimes we will see the buffalo and sometimes we don’t, however our guides are experienced and they will do their best to find the buffalo for you, sometimes driving in the many side roads along the highway.
We will stop at other spots along the tour and take many cool photos for you. If you are looking to experience the wilderness landscape of northern Canada, go look for the world’s biggest wild buffalo and learn more about Indigenous culture, then this tour is for you.
