Welcome to Yellowknife! We will all meet in Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories where after getting checked into your hotel, you will meet and get to know the other members of your group and our North Star Adventures team.

After the Package Orientation Session for your trip, you will have some to explore Yellowknife and then we all meet again for your “Welcome to Yellowknife dinner” of delicious local foods!

Next morning, we’re on the road to the picturesque Fort Simpson, a 650km road trip, where you will get settled into your comfortable and cozy B&B. Afterwards a tour to explore this historical community. Next morning, after a hearty breakfast and last minute instructions, we’re finally on the mighty Mackenzie River!

For the next 4 days and 4 nights we will canoe and camp, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the river with each passing kilometre. The peacefulness, the tranquility, just the soothing sounds of your paddle in the water. Getting to know the river, your new canoeing friends and getting to know yourself.

On each day and evening of your trip, an added bonus! We will show you things from the land as we make our way down river and share our stories and talk about our special connections to the land.

After canoeing and camping for 175kms, we reach our destinations, YOU MADE IT!! There will be time to reflect on your journey and soak in your amazing accomplishment!

Next day, after enjoying a well deserved sleep in, and after another delicious breakfast, we will pack up all the canoeing and camping gear and the North Star vehicles will arrive shortly after lunch to pick you up. Then we’re back on the road back to Fort Simpson and then onto Yellowknife.

First trip of the 2022 summer season departs Yellowknife June 30, with our last trip of the season departing Yellowknife September 01. Oh, just a little reminder, everything is provided, you just need to bring your friends, family or colleagues and your spirit of adventure!
