Have you always wanted to learn more about your Indigenous heritage, learn more about your Indigenous culture? If so, then our Culture Canoe Trip could be what you have been looking for?
All you need to do is get yourself to Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories. We will all meet there, this is where your Culture Canoe Trip adventure begins. Next morning we are on the road to our put in destination point of Fort Simpson, a beautiful community on the shores of the Mackenzie River.
For the next 4 days and 4 nights you will canoe and camp on the mighty Mackenzie River, one of the longest rivers in the world and home to the Dehcho Dene of the Dene Nation here in the Northwest Territories. Also, home to some spectacular northern wilderness scenery and you will as you paddle the river. For example when you first come into view of the Mackenzie Mountains on your left!
In addition, you will learn and experience our Indigenous culture on each day of the trip. Our Indigenous guides will teach you about some of our customs, tell you stories about the old days. They will teach about our special relationships with the land and most importantly, help you learn more about yourself and help you understand your Indigenous roots.
If you are looking to learn more about your Indigenous heritage, and maybe learn a little about yourself as an Indigenous person, then this culture canoe trip is for you. First trip of the 2022 summer season departs Yellowknife June 18, with our last trip of the season departing Yellowknife September 03.
