Welcome to the 62nd Latitude on planet Earth! We will greet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel. After checking in, we will meet to go over your Adventure Package. Afterwards see all of Yellowknife on our informative Yellowknife Sightseeing City Tour. For dinner, you are in for a northern fine dining experience! We will bring to the scenic Old Town district of Yellowknife for a delicious dinner of local fish at the world famous Bullocks’s Bistro! The rest of the evening is free.
Today we drive 300kms to the small, scenic Indigenous community of Fort Providence. Along the way view scenery of the northern Canada landscape, and see world’s biggest wild buffalo! When we arrive we will check in to the Snowshoe Inn, meet your river guides and choose to explore the community or take a short road trip to Lady Evelyn Falls and the tiny community of Kakisa. Go for a stroll and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the mighty Mackenzie River, meet the the warm, local Indigenous people and take advantage of the opportunity to purchase genuine, authentic Indigenous arts and crafts! Dinner at the local Snowshoe restaurant located directly across the street from your hotel.
Today we are in boat on the mighty Mackenzie River, one of the longest rivers in the world! We will boat from Fort Providence to the tiny Indigenous community of Jean Marie River for lunch. After lunch its back in the boat and on the river again. Continuing on after a stop at a traditional Indigenous gathering spot we arrive Fort Simpson (pop. 1250), a fur trading community established almost 200 years ago in the afternoon. After checking into your comfortable B&B, we will visit with a local Indigenous family for a delicious traditional cookout dinner and listen to stories about our Indigenous culture and the old days.
Today you fly into Nahanni National Park! You will take off from the Mackenzie River in a float plane, soon getting a bird’s eye view of the majestic Mackenzie Mountains off in the distance. First stop will be the breathtaking 315ft Virginia Falls, twice as high as the Niagara Falls! After an incredible visit to the Falls, it’s back on the floatplane for a short flight to another spectacular place, Glacier Lake, home of the impressive Cirque De Unclimables and then if that wasn’t enough, you’re off to one of the most scenic and relaxing spots in the entire Nahanni National Park, Little Doctor Lake, this place is heaven on Earth, wait until you see it! What a day!!
Today you will start to fall in love with this beautiful river community. Just in case Mother Nature did not cooperate with us yesterday then we will use this day to fly into the Nahanni National Park. If we were successful yesterday then we have a treat for you today! You will golf on the most beautiful golf course in all the Northwest Territories, the Seven Spruce Golf Course! Then we will do a wonderful little tour of the town and nearby area, a great few hours to really get to know this wonderful community!
Today we will drive back to Yellowknife, a relaxing and scenic 7hr road trip. With stops at the very cool Sambaa Deh Falls and Wallace Creek. Then we arrive into Fort Providence where our boat trip departed from where we will stop for lunch for a delicious buffalo burger! Arriving in Yellowknife in later afternoon, check into your hotel and then we will enjoy a wonderful evening of fine dining in the nice Explorer Hotel restaurant, where we can all reminisce together about your last 5 days.
Today enjoy a warm, hearty breakfast and then we will take you to the airport. It will be sad for us to see you leave, but then we will be happy for you for what you accomplished in the last 6 days, not many in the world have done this, you did!! Thank you for choosing North Star Adventures!
