When in Fort Providence, we will visit the beautiful Residential School Memorial constructed on the same site as the first Residential School in the Northwest Territories, which opened over 160 years in 1860.
Relax on a comfortable 65km boat ride on the mighty Mackenzie River from Jean Marie River to Fort Simpson, the same river canoed by Sir Alexander Mackenzie and his intrepid men back in 1789, over 230 years ago.
In each community you will overnight in relaxing accommodations including Fort Providence, Fort Simpson and in Kugluktuk on the Arctic Ocean! While in Fort Simpson enjoy a wonderful, interesting evening having tea and a storytelling with local Indigenous Elders.
