24 hours of daylight! Can you imagine going home at 3:00 am and the sun is still shining?! That’s what we have here in the Northwest Territories. The longest day in Yellowknife is June 21, 24 hours of daylight. Further up north towards the Arctic Ocean, the midnight sun lasts for a few weeks!
If you like road trips and looking for a fun way to see the north then this 7-Day northern Canada road Adventure is for you! Experience Indigenous culture, world’s biggest wild buffalo, cross over the mighty Mackenzie River, fly into the amazing incredible Nahanni National Park and more!

Day 1: Welcome to Yellowknife!
Welcome to the 62nd Latitude on planet Earth! We will greet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel. After checking in, we will meet to go over your Tour Package. Afterwards you have a choice to join our fun and informative Yellowknife Sightseeing City Tour, relax or go for a leisurely walk downtown. At 6:00pm we will bring to the scenic Old Town district of Yellowknife for a delicious dinner of local fish at world famous Bullocks’s Bistro! The rest of the evening is free.
Day 2: Enjoy Indigenous community life of Fort Providence
Today we drive 300kms to the small, scenic Indigenous community of Fort Providence. Along the way view scenery of the northern Canada landscape, and maybe even see wild buffalo! When we arrive we will check in to the Snowshoe Inn, meet your river guides and explore the community. Go for a stroll and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the mighty Mackenzie River, meet the the warm, local Indigenous people and take advantage of the opportunity to purchase genuine, authentic Indigenous arts and crafts! Lunch and dinner at the Snowshoe restaurant.
Day 3: Drive Highway 1 to Fort Simpson, our destination!
After a hearty breakfast at the local restaurant, it’s back on the road for a relaxing visit the Lady Evelyn Falls. Continuing on we arrive at the very scenic Sambaa Deh Falls and we will stop here for lunch. Next we visit the tiny Indigenous community of Jean Marie River (pop. 70), here, the local Indigenous women make some the most beautiful arts and crafts. Continuing on we arrive Fort Simpson (pop. 1250), a fur trading community first established over 200 years ago! Check into your hotel and enjoy a well deserved dinner meal.
Day 4: We fly into the Nahanni National Park today!
Today you fly into Nahanni National Park! You will take off from the Mackenzie River on a float plane, soon getting a bird’s eye view of the majestic Mackenzie Mountains in the distance. First stop will be the breathtaking Virginia Falls, almost twice as high as the Niagara Falls! After finally pulling yourself away from the falls, it’s back on the floatplane and we head off to one of the most scenic and relaxing spots in the entire Nahanni National Park, Little Doctor Lake, this place is heaven on Earth, wait until you see it!! After lunch it’s back to Fort Simpson, wow! What a day!! (Choose an optional overnight stay at Nahanni Mountain Lodge!)
Day 5: Get to know Fort Simpson or as we call it Liildlii Kue!
Today you will spend a relaxing day exploring, visiting and getting to know this wonderful community. Or if we encounter bad weather previous preventing us from flying into the Nahanni National Park, you will fly in today. If we were successful yesterday, then today you will shoot a relaxing round of golf on one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Northwest Territories! In the evening we will enjoy a delicious dinner of traditional foods at a local residents place.
Day 6: Fly to Yellowknife
Today you will fly back to Yellowknife on First Air, a relaxing 55 minute flight back to the capital city. Along the way if you look out the window you will see the mighty Mackenzie River that you were just on a few days ago, the same river Sir Alexander Mackenzie first explored way back in 1789. Our Yellowknife team will greet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel. To wrap up this once in a lifetime northern Canada adventure, you will be treated to wonderful evening of fine dining, presented with our North Star Adventures gift package including your North Star Memory Package to help you reminisce with new, wonderful memories of your Mackenzie Nahanni adventure!
Day 7: Fly home today with amazing memories of Canada’s majestic, exotic and untouched north! Today enjoy a hearty breakfast and then we will take you to the airport. It will be sad to see you leave, but happy for you for what you accomplished in the last 6 days, not many in the world have done this, you did! Thank you for choosing North Star!
