On this tour you will learn about our Indigenous culture! For this tour, your guide will be our very own Joe the Aurora Hunter! Joe is a 100% full blood Indigenous, he has lived here all his life and is very passionate about his heritage, and will share many personal stories about our Indigenous culture.
Set out in wilderness away from Yellowknife, enjoy the look of the traditional Indigenous teepees and trapper’s tents. Stay warm in our main Trapper’s tent where the cozy woodstove will be burning keeping the inside of the tent nice and warm, sometimes too warm!
Learn how to make your very own Dreamcatcher or your own Medicine Wheel! Our Indigenous guide who teaches people how to make dreamcatchers and medicine wheels will help you make your own. As you start to make the dreamcatcher or medicine wheel she will talk about what the they are and what each one represents.
As you are doing this, Joe will cook delicious traditional foods such as buffalo, fresh pan fried fish and our world famous (secret recipe) North Star traditional frybread! When you finish making your Indigenous souvenir, you will enjoy these delicious foods. Afterwards, Joe will do an introductory talk about our culture, about the old days and then try on some traditional clothing for some cool photos!
To end off the tour, we will do a traditional prayer ceremony where we smudge with sweetgrass. A great introduction tour into our Indigenous culture and a fun activity of making your own traditional Indigenous souvenir! Minimum 4 persons, maximum 10 persons. Price: $119.00+GST/person
