Genuine Indigenous Culture! WOW!! The highlight of this tour are the people and places of the Deh Cho (Mackenzie River) region! The warmest of warm welcomes you will get from the local residents of Fort Providence! Other highlights include the 300km drive from Yellowknife to Fort Providence, a comfortable, historic and amazingly 29ft voyageur canoe ride on the Deh Cho (Mackenzie River) from Fort Providence to the Dene Culture Camp!
You will spend 2 nights immersed in Dene culture at the cozy Culture Camp situated on the shores of the Mackenzie River! Our Indigenous guides will prepare delicious traditional foods for you, you will learn traditional arts and crafts, you will hear stories about the old days as told by Dene Elders, you will participate in our powerful Dene Hand Games and more!
On your last evening in the small Indigenous community of Fort Providence the community will hold an authentic Dene Hands demonstration and then end off the evening with fun and excitement with our traditional Drum Dance, especially held to honour you for visiting their community, WOW!!

Welcome, you made it! We will greet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel. After checking in, we will meet for an Orientation Session of your Tour Package. Afterwards learn about Yellowknife on informative Sightseeing City Tour, then relax or go for a leisurely walk downtown. At 6:00pm we will bring to the scenic Old Town district of Yellowknife for a delicious dinner of local fish at the world famous Bullocks’s Bistro!
Today we drive 300kms in our comfortable tour bus to the small, scenic Indigenous community of Fort Providence. Along the way view scenery of the northern Canada landscape, and maybe even see wild buffalo! When we arrive you will paddle on the Mackenzie River in our 29ft voyageur canoes to our traditional cultural camp. After a delicious traditional dinner, enjoy traditional storytelling by our Dene Elders. You will spend the night here.
Your first morning in the culture camp on the Mackenzie River! Today you will learn more about our Dene culture. See Dene cultural specialists perform traditional Dene customs such as beading and sewing, fishing, setting snares and traps. You will participate in some of these activities for some real on hand experience! Enjoy more storytelling and delicious traditional foods. After another delicious dinner, you will learn our traditional Dene Hand games!
Today after breakfast in the culture camp enjoy a comfortable and scenic boat back to Fort Providence. Enjoy an informative tour and to the historic community of Fort Providence visit with some of the local residents and hear their stories. After lunch we will drive to the scenic Lady Evelyn Falls and reconnect once again Mother Nature. After dinner the community will host a traditional Dene Games demonstration in your honour and then finish off the evening with a community Drum Dance!
Today you will drive back to Yellowknife, a relaxing scenic 3hr drive back to the capital city of Yellowknife stopping along to take some cool photographs of you. Once back in Yellowknife, check into your hotel and prepare for a wonderful going away dinner of local northern foods professionally prepared and enjoy wonderful dining experience of reminiscing about your amazing Dehcho Culture experience! We will also present you with your North Star gifts.
Today enjoy a warm, hearty breakfast and then we will take you to the airport. It will be sad for us to see you leave, but happy that we were able to show you our Dene culture. At the airport we will present you with your North Star Photo & Video Memory USB so you can remember our North Star experience and to share your experiences with friends and family.
