Summer Tours

Welcome to the land of the Midnight Sun!
The Northwest Territories has alot to offer in the summer months.
For starters, we have the midnight sun, 24 hours of sunlight! It starts in Yellowknife and the further north you go the longer the duration on the midnight sun, so in places like Inuvik and Tuktoyatuk, forget about seeing night until way later in the summer.
After all the ice has melted off the lakes, there is a vibrant fishing season that kicks in! With the 7th and 9th largest freshwater lakes in the world (Great Bear Lake and Great Slave Lake) here in the north you can be sure to get in some great fishing! We offer half-day, full-day, overnight and 3-5 fishing adventures.
Also, we offer boat tours that showcase some of our amazing lakes and rivers, our Mackenzie River and Great Slave Lake each have amazing nature, cultural and historic sites to see.
All of our guides are Aboriginal from the region and have years of experience boating on the lakes and rivers.
Boating and canoeing, what can I say!?
In addition to having the longest river in Canada, we have many scenic rivers that provide for great photo excursions, for getting in touch with the land, enjoying the tranquility only canoes tours can offer and of course getting to know one’s self better.
How about a road adventure?
The Mackenzie Highway system has 8 highways that all offer something to see. In particular the Deh Cho Highway (#7) and of course the world famous Dempster Highway (#8) from the Yukon to Inuvik.
What else? Wildlife viewing and experience Aboriginal life as many of the communities we stop at along each of our tours are smaller, aboriginal majority communities. Jump in, take your seat, relax and enjoy the tour!
As mentioned, many of our communities are Aboriginal where many residents continue to live a traditional lifestyle. Also, we are 100% Aboriginal owned so we are very proactive with preserving our traditional Dene practices.
As such, we offer those cultural activities that provide you with an insight into our culture. Please note as we mention under our “Culture” menu when we do our “Cultural Experiences”, we only do so in a manner that respects our culture and respects our ancestors.
All too often we see knock-offs being sold or certain activities being done in a way that disrepects the culture. I was raised by my grandparents and this is something that is very important to me.
Buffalo viewing! We offer buffalo viewing just as other tour operators do owever our buffalo viewing tours have a significant Aboriginal perspective to it.
Not only do we talk about the age, sex and ecological aspects of the buffalo but we also talk about when and how we harvest it and what the buffalo means to us spiritually. It’s a great tour!
We also do custom tours for you and your group. We can do bush camp tours, hiking adventures, women only tours, photography excursions, corporate and team building adventures and more. If you’re looking to film a commercial or something like that too, we can help we have done a few these past winter.
And finally, our Summer Getaways. Our getaways showcase the best of the best of what the Northwest Territories has to offer in the summer. These getaways are based on our experiences and feedback from our guests.
Each one is a once in a lifetime adventure!!
So, if you’re thinking about visiting us in this summer, give us a call or send us an email and we would be happy to make your Northwest Territories visit a most enjoyable experience!
